Koska aihetta ei ole tutkittu, tutkielman tavoitteena on saada ilmi\u00f6st\u00e4 kokonaiskuva. Valmistalot ovat n\u00e4kyv\u00e4 osa suomalaista rakennettua ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6\u00e4, sill\u00e4 teollisesti tuotetuista omakotitaloista tuli tutkittavana ajanjaksona suosituin omakotirakentamisen muoto. Tutkimusaineistoon kuuluu 45 talokuvastoa puutaloteollisuuden eri toimijoilta sek\u00e4 kolme toimitettua talo-opasta. Tutkielma edustaa laadullista tutkimusta ja pyrkii ilmi\u00f6n kokonaisvaltaiseen ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4miseen. Analyysi t\u00e4ht\u00e4\u00e4 valmistalojen julkisivuarkkitehtuurin piirteiden tunnistavaan ja nime\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4n tarkasteluun sek\u00e4 vaikutteiden kartoittamiseen vertailevan tutkimuksen keinoin. T\u00e4lt\u00e4 osin tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4ss\u00e4 on piirteit\u00e4 Erwin Panofskyn kehitt\u00e4m\u00e4st\u00e4 ikonografisesta analyysista. Aineistoa tarkastellaan nelj\u00e4n\u00e4 kategoriana (matalat tasamaatalot, ulkomaiset vaikutteet, modernismi ja postmodernismi sek\u00e4 rakennusperinne) viiten\u00e4 ajanjaksona. T\u00e4ll\u00f6in voidaan n\u00e4hd\u00e4 sek\u00e4 tietylle aikakaudelle ominaiset piirteet ett\u00e4 valmistaloarkkitehtuurin kehitys pidemp\u00e4n\u00e4 ajanjaksona. 1980-luvulla valmistaloteollisuus saavutti merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4n aseman omakotirakentamisessa. 1970-luvun lopulta l\u00e4htien suomalaisessa rakennustaiteessa postmodernismi haastoi modernismin ja saavutti ns. suuren yleis\u00f6n suosion. Rakentajien ja modernistiseen traditioon nojaavien arkkitehtien makumieltymykset ovat t\u00f6rm\u00e4nneet, kun taas mielikuvamarkkinointia ja ajan trendej\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4v\u00e4t talotehtaat ovat vastanneet kuluttajien toiveisiin. Valmistalojen arkkitehtuuri on hitaasti muuttuva, mutta nopeasti uutuuksiin reagoiva ilmi\u00f6. Esimerkiksi 1960\u201370-luvuille tyypilliset matalat tasamaatalot s\u00e4ilyv\u00e4t kuvastoissa perustyyppin\u00e4 2000-luvulle saakka; toisaalta kuvastoissa on n\u00e4ht\u00e4viss\u00e4 muoti-ilmi\u00f6it\u00e4, jotka vaihtuvat nopeasti. Edell\u00e4k\u00e4vij\u00f6it\u00e4 ovat asuntomessutalot, joissa ajan uutuudet n\u00e4kyv\u00e4t ensimm\u00e4isen\u00e4. 1970-luvun lopulta l\u00e4htien postmodernismi tuo valmistalojen modernistista linjaa noudattaneeseen suunnitteluun uusia virtauksia. Postmoderni rakennustaide vaikuttaa valmistalojen arkkitehtuuriin suoraan mm. eri klassististen yksityiskohtien muodossa. Postmodernismi ilmenee my\u00f6s kansanomaisina suuntauksina, jotka 1980-luvulla n\u00e4kyv\u00e4t ulkomailta omaksuttuina, eksoottisina piirtein\u00e4. My\u00f6s 1990-luvun suuri ilmi\u00f6, perinnetalot, hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 rakennusperinteen lis\u00e4ksi postmodernismin tunnetuksi tekemi\u00e4 yksityiskohtia. 2000-luvulla uusmodernistinen suuntaus muokkaa aiemmin elitistisen\u00e4 pidetyst\u00e4 modernismista kansantajuisen uustyylin. Tutkielma osoittaa, ett\u00e4 postmodernistiset piirteet s\u00e4ilyv\u00e4t valmistalojen arkkitehtuurissa 2000-luvulle saakka.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The topic of the thesis is the architecture and development of Finnish wooden constructed prefabricated single family detached houses from the 1980s to the 2000s. Because the topic has not been researched before the aim of this study is to get a general view of it. Prefabricated houses are a very visible part of the Finnish built environment as industrially produced houses became the dominant method of house building in this period. The research data consists of 45 house catalogues from different manufacturers in the wood-construction industry and three guide books for house buyers. The study is conducted with qualitative methods and attempts to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. The analysis aims to name and recognize characteristics and influences of the facade architecture of the houses with the methods of comparative research. In this regard the research method has features of Erwin Panofsky\u2019s iconographical analysis. The data is studied as four categories (low single-story houses, foreign influences, modernism and postmodernism and influences of historical styles) in five periods. In 1980s the prefabricated wooden house industry achieved a strong position in the detached house field. From the 1970s postmodernism temporarily challenged modernism in the Finnish architecture and also gained popularity among the masses. The taste preferences of the architects and the house-builders have often collided, while the house production, using image marketing and exploiting the trends of the time, have responded to the house builders\u2019 dreams. The architecture of the prefabricated houses develops slowly but reacts quickly to the new trends. For example the low single-story houses typical to the 1960s and 1970s remain in the catalogues as a standard type until the 2000s, on the other hand the catalogues show trend phenomena, which are replaced rather quickly. The trends show first in the houses that are presented at the annual Finnish house fair. From the end of the 1970s postmodernism brings new ideas to the house planning that has mainly followed modernism. Postmodernism influences the architecture of the prefabricated houses directly in the form of certain classicistic details. Postmodernism influence also shows as different vernacular orientations, which in the 1980s are presented by exotic, foreign influences. Even the \u201ctraditional house\u201d phenomenon of the 1990s uses commonly the historical details that were made popular by postmodernism. In the 2000s neo-modernism makes modernism into a popular style with a postmodernism touch.
