Motivaati-on osalta haetaan vastauksia siihen, miten projektip\u00e4\u00e4llik\u00f6t voivat nostaa pro-jektin j\u00e4senten motivaatiota ja n\u00e4in parantaa projektin onnistumismahdolli-suuksia.\nTutkielmassa keskityt\u00e4\u00e4n my\u00f6s toiseen usein ongelmaksi nousevaan asi-aan IT-projekteissa, joka on kommunikaatio. Tutkielma listaa suurimpia kom-munikaatioesteit\u00e4, joita on nostettu esiin erilaisissa tutkimuksissa. Tutkielma tarjoaa my\u00f6s joitakin vastauksia n\u00e4iden kommunikaatioesteiden minimoimi-seksi projektip\u00e4\u00e4llik\u00f6ille.\nTutkielman tuloksissa huomattiin, ett\u00e4 motivaatiolla ja kommunikaatiolla on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 rooli projektin onnistumisen kannalta. Tuloksissa l\u00f6ytyi my\u00f6s useita selkeit\u00e4 ja helppoja tapoja projektip\u00e4\u00e4llik\u00f6ille, joilla he voivat edist\u00e4\u00e4 mo-tivaatiota projekteissa ja minimoida kommunikaatioesteit\u00e4. This thesis is written from the project manager\u2019s perception. The main purpose of the study is to get answers to how important factors motivation and communication are for the project success. The study tries to present ways for a project manager to improve project team motivation, and this way increase the chance for project success.\nThis thesis also focuses on another common problem in IT projects, which is communication. The thesis introduces some main communication barriers found in IT projects. Some answers are provided for project managers to mini-mize these communication barriers.\nThe results of this thesis indicate that motivation and communication have an essential role in IT project success. Many simple and clear ways were found for project managers to improve project team motivation and minimize the ef-fect of communication barriers.
