Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 kirjallisuuskatsauk-seen perustuen, millaisia motivaatioita joukkoistamiseen osallistumiseen liittyy sek\u00e4 tunnistaa mahdollisia jatkokehityskohteita.\nTutkimuksessa tarkastellaan joukkoistamiseen osallistumista motivaatiotutki-muksen eri teorioihin perustaen. Yleisimpin\u00e4 motivaatioina esiin nousevat ak-tiviteetist\u00e4 itsest\u00e4\u00e4n kumpuava sis\u00e4inen motivaatio, teht\u00e4v\u00e4st\u00e4 maksettava ra-hallinen palkkio, sek\u00e4 joukkoistamisen j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4\u00e4n sidoksissa olevaan yhtei-s\u00f6\u00f6n liittyv\u00e4t sosiaaliset motivaatiot. Motivaatiot kuitenkin vaihtelevat riippuen joukkoistamisen tyypist\u00e4 ja teht\u00e4v\u00e4n sis\u00e4ll\u00f6st\u00e4 sek\u00e4 osallistujan demografiasta, sosioekonomisesta statuksesta ja kulttuurista. Crowdsourcing is one of the new collaboration models that were in-troduced after the rise of the Web 2.0 and it is solely based on voluntary parti-cipation.\nIn this study the focus is on understanding the motivations related to participa-tion in crowdsourcing. The purpose of this study is to identify what kinds of motivations are related to participation in crowdsourcing, and possible subjects for future research.\nIn this study the motivation for participation in crowdsourcing is being exam-ined based on different motivation theories. The most common motivations for participation in crowdsourcing that rise up in the literature are intrinsic motiva-tion that comes from the activity itself, monetary reward that is awarded from completing the task, and the social motivations that are related to the communi-ty of the crowdsourcing platform. However, motivations vary depending on the type of the crowdsourcing, the content of the task, and on the demography, so-cio-economical status and culture of the participant.
