Particularly, this studies focus on the conflict territorialization\nand the consequential inclusion of indigenous territories into the conflict logic, which has\npromoted the development of an indigenous resistance process derived from a defense of\nterritories as basis for identity construction. The thesis illustrates the change of the logic of\nconflict and the resultant development of an indigenous organizational structure as part of\na resistance process that hence can be termed territorial and cultural resistance. Hereby,\nthe theoretical concept of \u2018civil resistance\u2019 is critically discussed and enhanced to\nconceptualize this particular notion of resistance by the indigenous peoples.\nThis thesis follows a case study approach to qualitative analysis. Commencing with\na regional analysis, the study\u2019s findings are linked to a wider theoretical context and\nnumerous practical issues. The empirical data of the thesis is drawn from multiple sources,\nusing \u2018triangulation\u2019 by analyzing academic literature as well as brochures of selfpresentation,\nofficial denunciations, declarations and statements by the indigenous\ncommunities and their organizations. This data is complemented by several semistructured\ninterviews with representatives of indigenous communities, their organizations,\nas well as government and NGO representatives.\nThe study\u2019s findings suggest that the indigenous communities have developed a\nresistance process through identity reaffirmation and the development of an organizational\nstructure based on a \u2018bottom-up-approach\u2019. The organizational structure functions as an\nauthority alternative and simultaneously integrates international advocacy networks to\npressure the Colombian state.
