Liikkumattomuus on luokiteltu nelj\u00e4nneksi suurimmaksi riskitekij\u00e4ksi yleiseen kuolleisuuteen maailman laajuisesti. N\u00e4in ollen uudenlaista teknologiaa kehitet\u00e4\u00e4n fyysisen aktiivisuuden mittaamiseen, jotta ennaltaehk\u00e4isev\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6t\u00e4 voidaan tehd\u00e4.\r\n\r\nTutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli verrata \u00e4lyvaatteella mitatun EMG signaalin piirteit\u00e4 kolmiulotteiseen kiihtyvyyssignaaliin. \u00c4lyvaate mittaa quadriceps femoriksen ja hamstring lihasten EMG aktiivisuuta. 12 koehenkil\u00f6n kahdestakymmenest\u00e4 mittauksesta koostuva aineisto analysoitiin tutkimuksessa. Mittaukset olivat maksimissaan 12 tunnin mittaisia. Vertailu tehtiin ristikorrelaatio- ja integraalianalyysin avulla ja lis\u00e4ksi ristikorrelaatioanalyyseiss\u00e4 tutkittiin \u00e4lyvaatteen mitauskanavien m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n vaikutusta signaalin muodostumiseen ja korrelaatioihin. Integraali-analyysi perustui kokonaissignaalien pinta-alojen vertailuun joka tehtiin kahdelle ryhm\u00e4lle: ryhm\u00e4 1 (n=20) ja ryhm\u00e4 2 (n=5). Ryhm\u00e4 2 analysoitiin erikseen, koska EMG signaalin nollataso heilahteli kohtuuttoman paljon useimmissa mittauksissa ja vain viidess\u00e4 mittauksessa sit\u00e4 ei ilmennyt. \r\n \r\nRistikorrelaatioanalyysit osoittivat ett\u00e4 EMG- ja kiihtyvyyssignaalien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 on merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4 korrelaatio r=0,62. Kun enimmill\u00e4\u00e4n kaksi mittauskanavaa olivat poissa mittauksesta, ei merkitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 eroja syntynyt tulosten v\u00e4lille (0,58<r<0,60). Integraalianalyysit osoittivat ett\u00e4 pinta-alat t\u00e4sm\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t melko hyvin ja ryhm\u00e4 2:n pinta-alat t\u00e4sm\u00e4siv\u00e4t noin 90%:sti.
