Opettaja antaa usein korjaavaa palautetta (corrective feedback) oppilaidensa virheisiin, ja parhaassa tapauksessa palaute auttaa oppilaita oppimaan virheist\u00e4\u00e4n. Tutkielma pyrkii kartoittamaan erilaisia opettajien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4mi\u00e4 keinoja, kun he antavat korjaavaa palautetta oppilaiden puheessa tekemiin virheisiin. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan my\u00f6s oppilaiden tapaa reagoida palautteeseen (uptake) ja sit\u00e4, onnistuvatko oppilaat korjaamaan alkuper\u00e4iset virheens\u00e4 (repair). Tutkimuksen kohteena on kaksi lukiotason luokkaa ja heid\u00e4n opettajansa. Aineisto koostuu kahdeksasta englannin tunnista (yhteens\u00e4 noin 6 tuntia aineistoa). Analysointi tapahtui sek\u00e4 videokuvattujen ja \u00e4\u00e4nitettyjen nauhojen, ett\u00e4 nauhojen pohjalta tehtyjen litteraattien avulla. Aineistosta etsittiin analysoitavaksi sekvenssit, jotka alkoivat oppilaan kielellisell\u00e4 virheell\u00e4, saivat aikaan mahdollisen korjaavan palautteen opettajalta ja p\u00e4\u00e4ttyiv\u00e4t mahdolliseen oppilaan reagointiin.\n\nTutkielman tutkimuskysymykset ovat seuraavat: 1) Mink\u00e4laiset virheet johtavat varmimmin palautteeseen? 2) Mink\u00e4laisia korjaavan palautteen keinoja opettajat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t oppilaiden puheessa tekemien virheiden korjaamiseen ja miten n\u00e4m\u00e4 eri keinot jakautuvat? 3) Mitk\u00e4 palautteen keinot aiheuttavat oppilaissa eniten reagointia? 4) Johtavatko jotkin korjaavan palautteen keinot tehokkaammin kielelliseen korjaamiseen kuin toiset?\n\nTulokset osoittavat opettajien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4n moninaisia korjaavan palautteen keinoja. Keinot jaoteltiin kuuteen eri luokkaan, joista osa johdattelee oppilasta itse korjaamaan virheens\u00e4 ja osa sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 korjauksen opettajan antamana. Korjaavasta palautteesta 70% koostui tavoista, jotka eiv\u00e4t anna oppilaalle mahdollisuutta itse korjata virhett\u00e4\u00e4n. Toisin sanoen opettaja itse korjaa oppilaan tuottaman virheen joko implisiittisesti uudelleen muotoilemalla (recast), eksplisiittisesti osoittamalla ilmauksen virheellisyyden ja korjaamalla sen (explicit correction), tai k\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 suomeksi tuotetun ilmauksen englanniksi. N\u00e4m\u00e4 tavat olivat my\u00f6s tehottomimpia tuottamaan v\u00e4lit\u00f6nt\u00e4 reaktiota oppilailta, ja johtivat harvoin kielelliseen korjaamiseen.\n\nKyse oli tapaustutkimuksesta, joten yleistett\u00e4viin tuloksiin tutkielman aineisto on liian suppea.
