K\u00e4sittelen my\u00f6s tarinan eroja representaatiossa ja simulaatiossa, t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tapauksessa peliss\u00e4.\n\nTutkimuskysymyksi\u00e4ni olivat:1) Mit\u00e4 eroja representaatiossa ja simulaatiossa on ker-\nronnallisella tasolla, 2) mik\u00e4 n\u00e4iden erojen merkitys on henkil\u00f6hahmon ja tarinan rakentumiseen ja 3) miten henkil\u00f6hahmon rakentuminen eroaa romaanissa ja peliss\u00e4? Materiaalinani k\u00e4ytin Golden Compass -PC-peli\u00e4. Peli perustuu Philip Pullmanin Kultainen kompassi -nimiseen romaaniin, josta tehty elokuva on nimelt\u00e4\u00e4n Kultainen kompassi.\n\nEtsin vertailukohtia romaanin ja elokuvan sek\u00e4 pelin tarinan ja henkil\u00f6hahmojen v\u00e4lill\u00e4keskittyen erityisesti p\u00e4\u00e4henkil\u00f6 Lyran hahmoon.\n\nPelin henkil\u00f6hahmon syvyytt\u00e4 ja toimintaa tutkiessani k\u00e4ytin Shlomith Rimmon-Kenanin\nteoriaa kolmen muuttujan systeemist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 Vladimir Proppin teoriaa henkil\u00f6hahmon\nfunktioista. Simulaatiota k\u00e4sittelin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en tutkijoiden Aarseth, Franca, Consalvo ja Dutton, Lankoski sek\u00e4 Pearce teorioita. Pearcen ja Frascan mukaan representaatiossa itse tarina on kerronnan tarkoitus. Simulaatiossa, peliss\u00e4 tarinan funktio on luoda pelaamiselle looginen rakenne ja tukea pelaamisen kokemusta. T\u00e4m\u00e4 tarinan funktio n\u00e4kyy my\u00f6s Golden Compass -peliss\u00e4. Tarinaa on k\u00e4ytetty vain niilt\u00e4 osin kuin se tekee tarinasta pelattavamman. My\u00f6s Proppin tarinoiden funktiot l\u00f6ytyiv\u00e4t tutkimastani pelist\u00e4 tukien tarinan k\u00e4yt\u00f6n painottumista peliss\u00e4 toimintaan.\n\nHenkil\u00f6hahmon rakentumista analysoin Rimmon-Kenanin esitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n teoriaan peilaten.\nLyran henkil\u00f6hahmo peliss\u00e4 on allegorinen ja litte\u00e4. Pearcen ja Frascan mukaan peliss\u00e4 henkil\u00f6hahmo on j\u00e4tett\u00e4v\u00e4 vajaaksi kuvailun tasolla, jotta pelaaja voisi samaistua hahmoon omissa pelitoiminnoissaan.
