Tutkielmassani jaottelen ruokakirjallisuuden gastronomiseen kirjallisuuteen ja keittokirjallisuuteen. Gastronominen kirjallisuus on perinteisesti ollut miehisen eliitin laji. Arkiseen k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6llisyyteen keskittyv\u00e4t keittokirjat ovat puolestaan olleet naisten kirjallisuutta. Ruoan ja luokan yhteydess\u00e4 keskeisen\u00e4 teoreettisena kehyksen\u00e4 toimivat Pierre Bourdieun ajatukset mausta ja luokasta sek\u00e4 kulttuurisesta ja ekonomisesta p\u00e4\u00e4omasta. Ruokaa ja sukupuolta puolestaan pohdin sek\u00e4 ruoka-aineiden ett\u00e4 ruoanvalmistuksen sukupuolittuneisuuden kautta. \r\n\r\nTapausesimerkkin\u00e4 tarkastelen Hans V\u00e4lim\u00e4en tuotantoa vuosilta 2004\u20132009. V\u00e4lim\u00e4en teokset asettuvat osaksi hyv\u00e4n maun sanelevaa gastronomisen kirjallisuuden jatkumoa, toisaalta ne ovat my\u00f6s k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6llisi\u00e4 ruoanvalmistusoppaita, keittokirjoja.\r\n\r\nV\u00e4lim\u00e4ki kiinnittyy teoksillaan vahvasti ravintolamaailmaan. Ammattitaidon esille tuominen vaikuttaisikin olevan kirjojen keskeisint\u00e4 sis\u00e4lt\u00f6\u00e4. V\u00e4lim\u00e4ell\u00e4 on my\u00f6s valtaa itse m\u00e4\u00e4ritell\u00e4 oikeaa makua ja sulkea sen ulkopuolelle raaka-aineita ja valmistusmenetelmi\u00e4. Luokka ilmenee teoksista my\u00f6s implisiittisen lukijan k\u00e4sitteen kautta. Olen hahmotellut V\u00e4lim\u00e4en kirjoille kaksi erillist\u00e4 implisiittist\u00e4 lukijaa, osaavan ruokaharrastajan ja ty\u00f6v\u00e4enluokkaisemman kotikokin, jonka ekonominen ja kulttuurinen p\u00e4\u00e4oma on ihannelukijaan verrattuna matalampi.\r\n\r\nV\u00e4lim\u00e4en kirjat yll\u00e4pit\u00e4v\u00e4t jakoa yl\u00e4luokkaiseen ja miehiseen ravintolamaailmaan ja naisiseen kotikeit-t\u00e4miseen.
