T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksentarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 vaikuttaako beeta-alaniini veren happamuuteen, laktaattiin jafyysiseen suorituskykyyn. Tutkimukseen osallistui viisitoista jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4l\u00e4ist\u00e4 miesjalkapalloilijaa(21.3 \u00b1 2.8 v.). Koehenkil\u00f6t jaettiin kahteen ryhm\u00e4\u00e4n, joista toiset (n = 8)nauttivat beeta-alaniinia 1.5 g kolmesti vuorokaudessa (yhteens\u00e4 4.5 g vuorokaudessa)ja toiset (n = 7) vastaavasti plaseboa. Tutkimus koostui identtisist\u00e4 alku- ja loppumittauksistasek\u00e4 n\u00e4iden v\u00e4lisest\u00e4 nelj\u00e4n viikon latausjaksosta, jolloin koehenkil\u00f6t harjoittelivatjoukkueen harjoitusohjelman mukaisesti. Mittauksissa koehenkil\u00f6ilt\u00e4 mitattiin aamup\u00e4iv\u00e4ll\u00e4pieni verenkuva, antropometria, 5-loikka, kevennyshyppy, 20 m:n juoksu ja400 m:n juoksu. Verin\u00e4ytteet puskuroinnin keskeisi\u00e4 fysiologisia muuttujia varten otettiinennen juoksua (pre), minuutti juoksun j\u00e4lkeen (post1), viiden minuutin kuluttua(post 5) ja 30 minuutin kuluttua (post 30). Niist\u00e4 analysoitiin pH ja laktaatti. Iltap\u00e4iv\u00e4ll\u00e4mitattiin lihasvoimasta maksimi- ja kestovoima (50 % 1 RM:st\u00e4) penkkipunnerruksessaja jalkakyykyss\u00e4. Tutkimuksen tuloksissa ei l\u00f6ytynyt tilastollisesti merkitsevi\u00e4 erojamiss\u00e4\u00e4n muuttujassa beeta-alaniiniryhm\u00e4n ja kontrolliryhm\u00e4n v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Sen sijaan 400m:n juoksuaika l\u00e4hestyi merkitsev\u00e4\u00e4 (p = 0.086) beeta-alaniiniryhm\u00e4n sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 alku- jaloppumittausten v\u00e4lisess\u00e4 muutoksessa (parannus _ ka -1.21 \u00b1 1.60 s). Beetaalaniiniryhm\u00e4ll\u00e4fysiologiset muutokset eiv\u00e4t olleet my\u00f6sk\u00e4\u00e4n merkitsevi\u00e4; veren happamuusja laktaattiarvot kasvoivat hiukan 400 m:n juoksun j\u00e4lkeen yhdistetyiss\u00e4 (alkujaloppumittaukset) verin\u00e4ytteiss\u00e4, mik\u00e4 voi antaa viitteit\u00e4 lihasten parantuneesta puskurointikyvyst\u00e4.Voima- ja nopeusominaisuuksissa tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4\u00e4 parannustatapahtui vain 5-loikassa molempien ryhmien sis\u00e4ll\u00e4.
