Yleens\u00e4 positiivisten emootioiden on ajateltu vaikuttavan my\u00f6nteisesti\r\noppimiseen, kun taas negatiivisten emootioiden on n\u00e4hty h\u00e4iritsev\u00e4n oppimista.\r\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa laadullisen proseminaaritutkielman tarkoituksena oli tutkia kahden\r\nkeskisuomalaisen alakoululuokan oppilaiden emootioita englannin oppimista kohtaan. Emootioita\r\non tutkittu kielen oppimisen ja opettamisen alalla jo jonkin verran, mutta t\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus tarkasteli\r\nniit\u00e4 nimenomaan oppilaiden n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta heid\u00e4n omakuviensa kautta, joita ei viel\u00e4 juurikaan ole\r\nosattu hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 vieraan kielen oppimisen tutkimuksessa. Aineisto (N=30) ker\u00e4ttiin pyyt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4\r\nalakoulun nelj\u00e4nnen ja viidennen luokan oppilaita piirt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n kuva itsest\u00e4\u00e4n englannin oppijoina.\r\nAnalyysi- ja k\u00e4sittelyosuudessa oppilaiden omakuvia tarkasteltiin ennen kaikkea emootioiden\r\nvalossa, ja lis\u00e4ksi ne luokiteltiin kolmeen eri kategoriaan: positiiviseen, neutraaliin tai negatiiviseen.\r\nLis\u00e4ksi vertailtiin omakuvien tapahtumapaikkoja eli erilaisia ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6j\u00e4, joihin oppilaat piirsiv\u00e4t\r\nitsens\u00e4 englannin oppijoina.\r\nTutkimustulosten perusteella vaikuttaa silt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 suurimmalla osalla tutkimukseen osallistuneista\r\noppilaista emootiot englannin oppimista kohtaan olivat itse asiassa eritt\u00e4in positiivisia (keskim\u00e4\u00e4rin\r\nnoin 86,6 %:lla oppilaista positiivisia emootioita). Oppilaat n\u00e4kiv\u00e4t itsens\u00e4 piirroksissa oppimassa\r\nenglantia paitsi perinteisesti luokkahuoneessa, my\u00f6s sen ulkopuolella harrastusten parissa sek\u00e4\r\nkotona erilaisten medioiden ymp\u00e4r\u00f6im\u00e4n\u00e4. Sukupuolten v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei n\u00e4ytt\u00e4nyt olevan merkitt\u00e4vi\u00e4\r\neroja. Aineiston rajallisuuden vuoksi tulosten perusteella ei kuitenkaan voi tehd\u00e4 laajempia\r\njohtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksi\u00e4, ja jatkotutkimusta tarvitaan edelleen muun muassa selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n millaiset tekij\u00e4t\r\nvaikuttavat oppilaiden positiivisiin ja negatiivisiin emootioihin.
