Koulukuraattorin roolia tarkasteltiin kolmen kontekstin kannalta. N\u00e4m\u00e4 olivat oppilashuoltoryhm\u00e4, kouluyhteis\u00f6ss\u00e4 esiintyvien ongelmien ratkaiseminen ja kuraattorin ty\u00f6n merkitys erityisopettajan omalle ty\u00f6lle. Tutkimus on tehty nimenomaan erityisopettajien n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys perustuu koulukuraattorin ty\u00f6t\u00e4 ja oppilashuoltoa k\u00e4sittelev\u00e4\u00e4n aikaisempaan tutkimukseen. Aikaisemman tutkimuksen perusteella kuraattorin ajatellaan toimivan koulussa sosiaality\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n roolissa, jonka teht\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 on kohdata oppilaiden sosiaalisia ongelmia ja konsultoida opettajia ongelmatilanteissa.\n\tTutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin kolmen tutkimusongelman avulla. N\u00e4ist\u00e4 ensim-m\u00e4inen k\u00e4sitteli koulukuraattorin roolia oppilashuoltoryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4. Toinen tutkimusongelma tarkasteli koulukuraattorin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4mi\u00e4 ongelmanratkaisukeinoja ja kolmas kuraattority\u00f6n merkityst\u00e4 erityisopettajien omalle ty\u00f6lle. Tutkimusjoukkona olivat peruskouluissa toimivat erityisopettajat ja tutkimukseen osallistui 195 erityisopettajaa ymp\u00e4ri Suomen. P\u00e4\u00e4asiassa Likert-tyyppisist\u00e4 v\u00e4itt\u00e4mist\u00e4 koostuneet muuttujat analysoitiin m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisill\u00e4 menetelmill\u00e4 kuten p\u00e4\u00e4komponenttianalyysill\u00e4, ristiintaulukoinnilla, khiin neli\u00f6 -testill\u00e4, Mann-Whitneyn U-testill\u00e4 ja Kurskal-Wallisin -testill\u00e4. Avoimen kysymyksen vastaukset analysoitiin laadullisesti teemoittelemalla.\n\tTutkimustulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 erityisopettajat kokevat kuraattorin t\u00e4rke\u00e4ksi yhteisty\u00f6kumppaniksi. Kuraattoriresurssit ovat kuitenkin liian pienet, jonka vuoksi kuraattorin rooli j\u00e4\u00e4 irralliseksi koulun arjesta. Tulosten perusteella koulukuraattorin rooli on osittain ristiriitainen, sill\u00e4 erityisopettajat painottavat yht\u00e4 lailla sek\u00e4 kasvattajan ett\u00e4 sosiaality\u00f6ntekij\u00e4n roolia. Erityisopettajien k\u00e4sitykset erosivat jonkin verran toisistaan muun muassa ty\u00f6paikan, kuraattoripalvelujen saatavuuden ja oppilashuoltoryhm\u00e4\u00e4n osallistumisen perusteella.
