Hypoteesimme on, ett\u00e4 kulttuuria esitet\u00e4\u00e4n oppikirjoissa, mutta k\u00e4sittely ei ole mielenkiintoista ja se j\u00e4\u00e4 pinnalliseksi sek\u00e4 stereotyyppiseksi.\r\n\r\nTutkimuksen materiaalina on nelj\u00e4 lukion kurssikirjaa, jotka kuuluvat sarjaan Varf\u00f6r inte! (Fiilin et al. 2002-2004). Saadaksemme tietoa my\u00f6s kirjank\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4n n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta, haastattelimme lis\u00e4ksi kuutta lukiolaista, joilla on kokemusta kyseisest\u00e4 kirjasarjasta. Stereotyyppisi\u00e4 kuvauksia l\u00f6ysimme kuitenkin yll\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4n v\u00e4h\u00e4n. Kuten odotimme, haastatellut lukiolaiset ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4v\u00e4t kielen ja kulttuurin v\u00e4lisen yhteyden, ja he haluaisivat opetukseen lis\u00e4\u00e4 ruotsalaista kulttuuria.\r\n\r\nTutkimus vahvisti entisest\u00e4\u00e4n k\u00e4sityst\u00e4mme kulttuurin opetuksen t\u00e4rkeydest\u00e4 vieraan kielen opetuksessa.
