Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli\r\nvertailla oppilaiden ja opettajien vastauksia n\u00e4ihin kysymyksiin. Englannin kielen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 on\r\nlis\u00e4\u00e4ntynyt paljon lyhyess\u00e4 ajassa globalisoituvan yhteiskunnan seurauksena, mink\u00e4 vuoksi on\r\nt\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 saada selville, onko suomalaisissa lukioissa annettu opetus nimenomaan oppilaiden\r\nmielest\u00e4 h\u00f6ydyllist\u00e4 ja tehokasta. Aihetta on tutkittu viimeksi Suomessa kaksikymment\u00e4 vuotta\r\nsitten ja t\u00e4m\u00e4n vuoksi uusi tutkimus oli tarpeellinen.\r\nTutkimuksen viitekehyksen\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin aiempia Suomessa tehtyj\u00e4 tutkimuksia sek\u00e4 muutamia\r\nulkomailla samasta aiheesta tehtyj\u00e4 tuoreempia tutkimuksia. T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi tukena k\u00e4ytettiin\r\nLukion opetussuunnitelman perusteita sek\u00e4 Eurooppalaista viitekehyst\u00e4.\r\nTutkimukseen osallistui 54 oppilasta ja 2 opettajaa kahdesta eri lukiosta. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin\r\nkyselylomakkeella, joka sis\u00e4lsi 20 v\u00e4itt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4 sek\u00e4 yhden avoimen kysymyksen.\r\nTulosten mukaan lukion englannin opettajat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t opetuksessaan enemm\u00e4n perinteisi\u00e4\r\ntapoja (k\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misharjoitukset, sanakokeet, kieliopin korostus jne.) kuin innovatiivisempia ja\r\nkommunikatiivisuutta korostavia tapoja (keskusteluharjoitukset, k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n kielitaito). Oppilaat\r\nkokivat opetuksen monipuolisuuden t\u00e4rke\u00e4n\u00e4. Monet toivoivat tunneille enemm\u00e4n\r\nkeskusteluharjoituksia, mutta my\u00f6s perinteiset tavat opettaa, kuten k\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misharjoitukset,\r\nsanakokeet ja aineiden kirjoittaminen olivat oppilaiden mielest\u00e4 hy\u00f6dyllisi\u00e4 englannin\r\noppimisessa. Opettajien ja oppilaiden vastaukset erosivat hieman toisistaan.
