Ruoassa heijastuvat kunkin kansan perinteet, historia ja luonne. Tutustuminen uuteen kulttuuriin alkaa usein tutustumisella uuden maan ruokakulttuuriin. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielmassani tavoitteenani on kuvata ven\u00e4l\u00e4isten maahanmuuttajien ruokakulttuurin piirteit\u00e4 Suomessa. \n\nRuokakulttuuri on yht\u00e4 vaihteleva kuin kulttuuri ylip\u00e4\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4n. Akkulturaatio on yksi monista kulttuurin vaihtelun muodoista, joka ilmenee eri kulttuurien kohdatessa. Sen vuoksi on mielenkiintoista tarkastella maahanmuuttajien ruokakulttuuria esimerkkin\u00e4 heid\u00e4n akkulturaatiostaan. Valaisen t\u00e4ten ty\u00f6ss\u00e4ni kulttuurienv\u00e4lisen kommunikaation teoriaan liittyvi\u00e4 teoreettisia kysymyksi\u00e4 erityisesti suhteessa akkulturaatioon ja sopeutumiseen uuteen kulttuuriin. Kun akkulturaatio k\u00e4ynnistyy, siihen joutuvat kaikki ihmisen el\u00e4m\u00e4nalueet, joista ruokatavat ja ruokavalio n\u00e4kyv\u00e4t ensimm\u00e4isin\u00e4.\n\nTy\u00f6ss\u00e4ni tarkastelen erilaisia kulttuurin m\u00e4\u00e4ritelmi\u00e4, kulttuurien vuorovaikutusta ja siihen liittyvi\u00e4 akkulturaation ja sopeutumisen prosesseja, joissa keskeisell\u00e4 sijalla ovat akkulturaation strategiat ja kulttuurishokki. Lis\u00e4ksi k\u00e4sittelen arkip\u00e4iv\u00e4n kulttuuria, erityisesti ruokakulttuuria ja valaisen ven\u00e4l\u00e4isen ja suomalaisen keitti\u00f6n erityispiirteit\u00e4.\n\nKiinnostukseni kohteena ovat Suomessa asuvat ven\u00e4l\u00e4iset maahanmuuttajat, jotka muodostavat ison ja heterogeenisen ryhm\u00e4n. Laadullisen tutkimukseni aineistona on henkil\u00f6kohtainen kirjallinen kysely, jonka tein s\u00e4hk\u00f6postitse maaliskuussa 2008 Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4ss\u00e4 ja Imatralla asuvalle kahdeksalle informantille. Lis\u00e4materiaalia sain lokakuussa 2008 j\u00e4rjest\u00e4m\u00e4st\u00e4ni ryhm\u00e4keskustelusta Joutsenon Opiston ven\u00e4j\u00e4nkielisten suomen kielen opiskelijoiden keskuudessa.\n\nTutkimustulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 osa aikaisemmasta ruokakulttuurista muuttuu tai h\u00e4vi\u00e4\u00e4 kokonaan samalla kuin tilalle tulee aineksia suomalaisesta ruokakulttuurista. Ruokakulttuurin muutoksiin vaikuttavat monet tekij\u00e4t kuten ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n asenne ven\u00e4l\u00e4isi\u00e4 ruokia kohtaan, toisaalta taas paremmat mahdollisuudet hankkia ylellisiksi koettuja elintarvikkeita.
