Nykytilanne on kuitenkin se, ett\u00e4\r\ndraamakasvatus ja opettaminen draaman avulla ovat suhteellisen tuntemattomia opettajille,\r\njotka eiv\u00e4t ole draamaa opiskelleet. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli siksi tuoda esiin\r\ndraamakasvatuksen hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 englannin opetuksessa opettajille, mutta enimm\u00e4kseen tutkia mit\u00e4\r\nnykyiset draamalliset teht\u00e4v\u00e4t englannin oppikirjoissa pit\u00e4v\u00e4t sis\u00e4ll\u00e4\u00e4n. Draamaa ja\r\ndraamakasvatusta on tutkittu laajalti, mutta itse draamateht\u00e4vi\u00e4 ei ole suurennuslasin alle\r\nlaitettu.\r\nEnglannin kieli on hyvin laaja alue tutkittavaksi. T\u00e4st\u00e4 syyst\u00e4 t\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus pyrki kattamaan\r\nkaiken, mit\u00e4 draamateht\u00e4v\u00e4t voivat englannin kielen opettamiseen ja oppimiseen tuoda.\r\nTutkimus koostui deskriptiivisest\u00e4 analyysista, jolla tutkittiin englannin kielen lukion\r\noppikirjojen yhdest\u00e4 sarjasta kolmea kurssikirjaa. Tutkimuksessa otettiin selv\u00e4\u00e4 mit\u00e4 kirjojen\r\nsis\u00e4lt\u00e4m\u00e4t draamalliset teht\u00e4v\u00e4t opettivat kielen alueella, mit\u00e4 muita asioita ne opettivat, mill\u00e4\r\ntavoilla ne edistiv\u00e4t opetusta ja oliko niiss\u00e4 jotain parannettavaa.\r\nTulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 teht\u00e4v\u00e4t opettivat enimm\u00e4kseen yleisesti kommunikaatiota, mutta\r\npaikoin my\u00f6s tarkemmin jotain kommunikaation osaa. V\u00e4hemm\u00e4n niiss\u00e4 opetettiin sosiaalisia\r\ntaitoja ja kulttuurintuntemusta eik\u00e4 kielioppia opetettu draaman avulla lainkaan. Oppimisen\r\napuna hy\u00f6dynnettiin oppilaiden mielikuvitusta, improvisaatiotaitoja, lauseiden toistamista,\r\noikean el\u00e4m\u00e4n tilanteita ja roolissa olemista. Tutkimus osoitti kuitenkin, ett\u00e4 roolissa\r\nty\u00f6skentely\u00e4 oli suhteellisen v\u00e4h\u00e4n ja mink\u00e4\u00e4nlaiseen keskusteluun teht\u00e4v\u00e4st\u00e4 opitusta ei\r\nkehotettu ty\u00f6skentelyn j\u00e4lkeen. Lis\u00e4tutkimusta kaivataan saadakseen parempi kuva kaikista\r\ndraamateht\u00e4vist\u00e4 englannin kielen oppikirjoissa sek\u00e4 itse draamateht\u00e4vien saralla\r\nopetuskokeiluna parannettuina teht\u00e4vin\u00e4.
