Eri sosiaalisen median alustat, niiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 sek\u00e4 haittavaikutukset ovat olleet julkisessa keskustelussa jo hetken aikaa, ja koulumaailmassakin on ryhdytty toimiin esimerkiksi rajoittamalla k\u00e4nnyk\u00f6iden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 oppituntien aikana (Opetushallitus 30/4/2025). Siltik\u00e4\u00e4n esimerkiksi opetussuunnitelmat eiv\u00e4t anna opettajille selkeit\u00e4 ohjeita tai ty\u00f6kaluja sosiaalisen median opetusk\u00e4yt\u00f6n suhteen, jolloin vastuu niiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4 j\u00e4\u00e4 jokaisen opettajan omaan harkintaan. T\u00e4m\u00e4n vuoksi kielten opettajien n\u00e4k\u00f6kulma aiheeseen on mielenkiintoinen ja t\u00e4rke\u00e4, sill\u00e4 he, oppiaineensa pedagogiikan ammattilaisina, tekev\u00e4t p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksi\u00e4 sosiaalisen median suhteen omasta n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmastaan ja oman harkintansa mukaan.\nTutkielman tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 millaisia n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmia suomalaisilla ranskan ja englannin opettajilla on sosiaalisen median k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n osana opetusta ja miten ne vaikuttavat heid\u00e4n k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6ihins\u00e4. Aihetta ei ole juurikaan aikaisemmin tutkittu Suomen kontekstissa, joten tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli kartoittaa aiheeseen liittyvi\u00e4 teemoja ja tekij\u00f6it\u00e4. Tutkimuksen aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin kyselylomakkeella, johon vastasi 33 ranskan ja englannin opettajaa eri kouluasteilta. Vastaukset analysoitiin laadullisen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin avulla.\nTutkimuksen tuloksista k\u00e4vi ilmi, ett\u00e4 opettajat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t sosiaalista mediaa v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n opetuksessa kuin vapaa-ajalla. Opettajat mainitsivat useita hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 ja haittoja sosiaalisen median opetusk\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n liittyen ja n\u00e4m\u00e4 vastaukset heijastivat heid\u00e4n mainitsemiaan syit\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 tai olla k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 sosiaalista mediaa opetuksessa eli opettajien kokemat hy\u00f6dyt ja haitat vaikuttavat olevan yhteydess\u00e4 heid\u00e4n pedagogisiin p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksiins\u00e4. Toinen sosiaalisen median k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n vaikuttava tekij\u00e4 n\u00e4ytt\u00e4isi olevan opetettava kieli, sill\u00e4 sosiaalista mediaa vastaajat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t ranskan opetuksessa enemm\u00e4n kuin englannin opetuksessa ja etenkin kulttuuriteemojen v\u00e4litt\u00e4minen sosiaalisen median avulla korostuu ranskanopettajien vastauksissa.
