The significance of online learning environments in assessment has grown substantially. The aim of this master's thesis was to investigate how online learning environments support competency assessment in voca-tional education and to present practical recommendations for their utilization. The theo-retical framework examines methods of demonstrating competence through traditional and digital approaches, as well as the opportunities and challenges offered by technology and online learning platforms from an assessment perspective.\nThe research was conducted as a systematic literature mapping study, based on 88 peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025. The data was collected from the Scopus database and analyzed by classifying the studies according to publication venues, geographical location, technological solutions, and key challenges. The goal of the review was to provide an international overview of assessment practices in vocational education and to examine how the Finnish system adapts to digital transformation.\n\nThe results indicate that digital methods make assessment more diverse, current, and bet-ter aligned with students\u2019 needs. Simulations, video assessments, and VR/AR technolo-gies enable practice in authentic scenarios, electronic portfolios support continuous as-sessment, and learning analytics provide tools for personalized guidance. Challenges in-clude issues related to technology adoption, accessibility, digital skills gaps, and ethical questions concerning assessment. Although guidelines encourage the use of digital meth-ods in vocational education, practical instructions are often lacking due to the diversity of the field.\nBased on the findings, practical recommendations are proposed for various stakeholders, such as teachers, education providers, developers, and students, on how to utilize digital assessment methods effectively. The recommendations emphasize pedagogically justified use of technology, functional infrastructure, and continuous professional development. Teoreettinen viitekehys tarkastelee osaamisen osoittamista perinteisin ja digitaalisin menetelmin sek\u00e4 teknologian ja verkko-oppimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6jen tarjoamia mahdollisuuksia ja haasteita arvioinnin n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta.\nTutkimus toteutettiin systemaattisena kirjallisuuskartoituksena, jonka aineisto koostui 88 vertaisarvioidusta artikkelista vuosilta 2015\u20132025. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin Scopus-tietokannasta ja analysoitiin luokittelemalla tutkimukset julkaisufoorumien, maantieteellisen sijainnin, teknologisten ratkaisujen ja keskeisten haasteiden mukaan. Kartoituksen tavoitteena oli muodostaa kansainv\u00e4linen kokonaiskuva ammatillisen koulutuksen arviointik\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ist\u00e4 ja tarkastella, miten suomalainen j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4 mukautuu digitaaliseen muutokseen.\nTulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 digitaaliset menetelm\u00e4t tekev\u00e4t arvioinnista monipuolisempaa, ajankohtaisempaa ja paremmin opiskelijan tarpeisiin sopivaa. Simulaatiot, videoarvioinnit ja VR/AR-teknologiat mahdollistavat autenttisten tilanteiden harjoittelun, s\u00e4hk\u00f6iset portfoliot tukevat jatkuvaa arviointia ja oppimisanalytiikka tarjoaa v\u00e4lineit\u00e4 yksil\u00f6lliseen ohjaukseen. Haasteita aiheuttavat muun muassa teknologian k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6nottoon liittyv\u00e4t ongelmat, saavutettavuus, puutteelliset digitaidot sek\u00e4 arvioinnin eettiset kysymykset. Vaikka ammatillisen koulutuksen ohjeistus kannustaa digitaalisten menetelmien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n, k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n toimintaohjeet puuttuvat usein kent\u00e4n monimuotoisuuden vuoksi.\nTutkimuksen perusteella esitet\u00e4\u00e4n k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n suosituksia digitaalisten arviointimenetelmien hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4miseksi eri toimijoille, kuten opettajille, koulutuksen j\u00e4rjest\u00e4jille, kehitt\u00e4jille ja opiskelijoille. Suositukset korostavat pedagogisesti perusteltua teknologian k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4, toimivaa infrastruktuuria ja jatkuvaa osaamisen kehitt\u00e4mist\u00e4.
