Aurinkopaneelien nopea tekninen kehitys, kustannusten aleneminen ja uusiutuvan energian tarve on her\u00e4tt\u00e4nyt alan toimijoiden kiinnostuksen rakentaa teollisen kokoluokan aurinkovoimaloita. Turpeentuotannon p\u00e4\u00e4ttyminen vapauttaa tuhansia hehtaareita ihmisen vahvasti muokkaamaa maata muille j\u00e4lkik\u00e4ytt\u00f6muodoille. Aurinkovoiman soveltuvuus n\u00e4hd\u00e4\u00e4n hyv\u00e4n\u00e4 j\u00e4lkik\u00e4ytt\u00f6muotona vanhoille turvetuotantoalueille, koska ne ovat puuttomia, alueet ovat tasaisia ja niiss\u00e4 on valmiiksi kattava tieverkosto. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tutkia aurinkovoimahankkeiden ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6vaikutuksia turvetuotantoalueilla. Tutkimus toteutettiin kirjallisuuspohjaisena tutkimuksena. Kirjallisuudesta poimittiin potentiaaliset aurinkovoimalan ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6vaikutukset turvetuotantoalueella. Niit\u00e4 arvioitiin ottamalla huomioon Suomen olosuhteet. Tutkimuksessa tehtiin my\u00f6s asiantuntijakysely merkitt\u00e4vien ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6vaikutusten tunnistamiseksi. Kirjallisuuskatsauksen ja asiantuntijakyselyn tulosten pohjalta syntyi listaus potentiaalisesti t\u00e4rkeimmist\u00e4 ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6vaikutuksista, joiden merkitt\u00e4vyytt\u00e4 arvioitiin ARVI-ty\u00f6kalun avulla. ARVI-tarkasteluun valittiin kymmenen potentiaalista aurinkovoimakohdetta. Kohteille tehtiin paikkatietoanalyysi, jossa tarkasteltiin kohteiden mahdollisesti ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6vaikutuksien suuruuteen vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4, kuten verkkoliitynn\u00e4n puustonpoistotarvetta sek\u00e4 et\u00e4isyyksi\u00e4 asutukseen, vesist\u00f6ihin ja suojelualueisiin. Tutkimuksessa havaittiin, ett\u00e4 aurinkovoimalalla on paikallisesti vaikutusta muun muassa kasvillisuuteen, mikroilmastoon sek\u00e4 aurinkovoima-alueen aitaamisen my\u00f6t\u00e4 el\u00e4inten liikkuvuuteen. Turvetuotantoalueet sijaitsevat p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti kaukana asutuksesta ja aurinkovoimalat ovat matalia rakennelmia, joten maisemalliset haitat ovat pienet. One of the emission-free forms of energy production is solar power. The rapid technical development of solar panels, the reduction of costs and the need for renewable energy have aroused the interest of operators in the field to build industrial-scale solar power plants. The end of peat production in peat production areas frees up thousands of hectares of heavily modified land for other uses. The suitability of solar power is seen as a good secondary use for old peat production areas, because they are treeless, the areas are flat, and they already have a comprehensive road network. The aim of this study was to investigate the environmental effects of solar power projects in peat production areas. The research was carried out as a literature-based study. The potential environmental effects of the solar power plants in the peat production areas were extracted from the literature. They were then evaluated by taking into account Finland's conditions and suitable types of solar power. An expert survey was also carried out to identify significant environmental impacts. Based on the literature review and the results of the expert survey, a list of potentially important environmental impacts was created and their significance was assessed using the ARVI tool. Ten potential solar power sites were selected for the ARVI review. A spatial analysis was conducted on the sites, examining factors that could influence the magnitude of environmental impacts, such as the need for tree removal for grid connection and distances to residential areas, water bodies, and protected areas. The results showed that solar power plants have local impacts on vegetation, microclimate, animal movement through fencing and other factors. The peat production areas are generally located far away from settlements and the solar power plants are low structures, so the landscape impact is limited.
