Luontopohjainen \nhiilensidonta on kustannustehokas menetelm\u00e4, jolla on my\u00f6s muita positiivisia \nvaikutuksia, kuten resurssien s\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4minen ja ekosysteemipalvelut. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 \ntutkielmassa tutkittiin Keski-Suomen kuntien valmiuksia ottaa k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n \nluontopohjaisia hiilensidontaratkaisuja paikkatietoanalyysill\u00e4 ja kyselyll\u00e4. \nPaikkatietoanalyysiss\u00e4 potentiaalia arvioitiin spatiaalisesti laskemalla yhteen \nkuntien maataloustukien ulkopuolella olevien mets\u00e4tt\u00f6mien alueiden, eri \nmets\u00e4ik\u00e4luokkien, kitumaiden, turvetuotannosta poistuneiden alueiden ja yli \n50 %:sesti ojitettujen soiden pinta-ala. Kysely l\u00e4hetetiin s\u00e4hk\u00f6postilla Keski\nSuomen kuntien kaavoittajille, mets\u00e4vastaaville, ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6nsuojelun \nty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6ille, seurakunnille, alueellisten mets\u00e4nhoitoyhdistysten, Suomen \nmets\u00e4keskuksen asiantuntijoille, ja Pro Agrian asiantuntijoille. Tutkimuksessa \nk\u00e4vi ilmi, ett\u00e4 hiilensidontaan sopivan alueen pinta-ala vaihtelee kuntien v\u00e4lill\u00e4. \nSuurin potentiaalinen luontopohjaisen hiilensidonnan alue oli Karstulassa. \nSeuravaksi suurimmat pinta-alat olivat Pihtiputaalla ja Keuruulla. Pienin pinta\nala oli Muuramessa, ja seuraavaksi pienimm\u00e4t Luhangalla ja Toivakassa. \nLuontopohjaisen hiilensidonnan lis\u00e4\u00e4misen kannalta sopivimmat alueet olivat \nkitumailla, entisill\u00e4 turvetuotantoalueilla ja yli 50 % ojitetuilla soilla. \nSeurakuntien ja kuntien n\u00e4kemys erosi toisistaan lailla ohjaamisen ja poliittisen \nohjaamisen t\u00e4rkeydest\u00e4 luontopohjaisessa hiilensidonnassa. Kuntien ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t \npainottivat enemm\u00e4n lakia ja politiikkaa kuin seurakuntien ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t. Yleisesti \nottaen suhtautuminen luontopohjaiseen hiilensidontaan oli positiivista. Lis\u00e4ksi \nKeski-Suomen kunnissa on tilaa lis\u00e4t\u00e4 luontopohjaista hiilensidontaa, joten \npotentiaalia kunnissa on. In nature-based carbon sequestration carbon is stored through \nplants\u2019 photosynthesis or with cyanobacteria. Nature-based carbon sequestration \nis cost-efficient that also has additional positive impacts like saving resources and \necosystem services. This research studied the readiness of municipalities in \nCentral Finland to implement nature-based carbon sequestration using spatial \ndata analysis and a survey. In the spatial data analysis, the potential was assessed \nspatially by adding together the area of forestless areas outside the \nmunicipalities' agricultural subsidies, different forest age classes, sparse lands, \nareas that have ceased to be used for peat production, and peatlands, of which \nmore than 50% had been drained. The survey was sent by email to planners, \nforest managers, environmental protection workers, congregations, experts from \nthe forest management association, the Finnish forest centre, and experts from \nPro Agria in the municipalities of Central Finland. The study revealed that the \nsuitable area varied between municipalities. The largest potential areas for \nnature-based carbon sequestration were in Karstula, Pihtipudas and Keuruu. \nSmallest areas were in Muurame, Luhanka and Toivakka. The areas most suitable \nfor increasing nature-based carbon sequestration were in peatlands, former peat \nproduction areas and peatlands that were more than 50 % drained. \nCongregations and municipalities had different views on the importance of legal \nand political guidance in nature-based carbon sequestration. Municipal \nemployees emphasized law and policy more than parish employees. In general, \nviews on nature-based carbon sequestration were positive.
