These include climate change, technological developments and demographic changes. When assessing the competence needs of the sports sector, it is important to identify how societal trends are shaping the way people move. The aim of this thesis was to identify the competences that will be needed by a sports instructor (BSS) in 2035. The thesis was commissioned by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. \n\nIn Finland, the degree of a sports instructor (BSS) can be obtained at five different universities of applied sciences. The education of sports instructors became part of the university of applied sciences system in 1999. When identifying future competence needs, it is important to understand the changes taking place in work life and the sports sector. Skills are defined in many different ways. In this study, the concept of competence is approached through generic and subject-specific or sector-specific competences. The study was carried out as a qualitative study. The material was collected by the method of empathy-based stories from sports instructors (BSS) who graduated from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in 2020-2024 and was analysed using thematic analysis.\n\nBased on the analysis of the data, the key competences identified were individual and holistic physical education, technology skills, leadership and business skills, resilience and continuous learning, interdisciplinary cooperation and networking, and environmental sustainability and responsibility. The results are broadly in line with previous studies on competences in the field of sport, but this study highlights the previously neglected issues of artificial intelligence and resilience. Tutkielma on toteutettu toimeksiantona Haaga-Helia ammattikorkeakoululle. \n\nSuomessa liikunnanohjaajan (AMK) tutkinnon voi suorittaa viidess\u00e4 eri ammattikorkeakoulussa. Liikunnanohjaajan koulutus siirtyi osaksi ammattikorkeakouluj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4\u00e4 vuonna 1999. Tulevaisuuden osaamistarpeita selvitett\u00e4ess\u00e4 on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 hahmottaa ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4n ja liikunta-alan muutos. Osaamista m\u00e4\u00e4ritell\u00e4\u00e4n monella eri tavalla. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa osaamisen k\u00e4sitett\u00e4 l\u00e4hestyt\u00e4\u00e4n geneerisen eli yleisp\u00e4tev\u00e4n osaamisen sek\u00e4 substanssi- eli toimialakohtaisen osaamisen kautta. Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin el\u00e4ytymismenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 Haaga-Helia ammattikorkeakoulusta vuosina 2020\u20132024 valmistuneilta liikunnanohjaajilta (AMK), joilla oli v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n kahden vuoden ty\u00f6kokemus. Vastauksia saatiin yhteens\u00e4 23. Aineisto analysoitiin temaattisen analyysin menetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4. \n\nAnalyysin perusteella keskeisiksi osaamistarpeiksi nousivat yksil\u00f6llinen ja kokonaisvaltainen liikunnanohjaus, teknologiaosaaminen, johtamis- ja liiketoimintaosaaminen, resilienssi ja jatkuva oppiminen, monialainen yhteisty\u00f6 ja verkostoituminen sek\u00e4 ekologinen kest\u00e4vyys ja vastuullisuus. Tulokset ovat p\u00e4\u00e4osin linjassa aiempien liikunta-alan osaamistarveselvitysten kanssa, mutta t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa esiin nousivat aiemmin v\u00e4hemmille maininnoille j\u00e4\u00e4neet teko\u00e4ly ja resilienssi.
