T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkielman tavoitteena oli tutkia suomalaisten 4.\u20139.luokkalaisten k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 teko\u00e4lyst\u00e4 sek\u00e4 sit\u00e4 mist\u00e4 he ovat teko\u00e4lyst\u00e4 oppineet. Tutkielmassa selvitettiin my\u00f6s oppijoiden sukupuolen ja luokka-asteen vaikutusta teko\u00e4lyk\u00e4sityksiin. \n\nTutkimuksen ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 vaiheessa tarkasteltiin aiempaa oppijoiden teko\u00e4lyk\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 k\u00e4sittelev\u00e4\u00e4 tutkimusta ja muodostettiin tutkimusl\u00f6yd\u00f6sten avulla teoreettinen luokittelu teko\u00e4lyk\u00e4sityksist\u00e4. Toisessa vaiheessa analysoitiin oppijoiden kyselylomakevastauksia laadullisin ja m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisin menetelmin. Kyselyyn vastasi 195 oppijaa. Kyselyn tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 kyselyyn vastanneet oppijat ajattelivat teko\u00e4lyn useimmin robottina tai jonkinlaisena arkip\u00e4iv\u00e4n teknologiana. Useissa vastauksissa nousi esiin my\u00f6s ajatus teko\u00e4lyn \u00e4lykkyydest\u00e4. Teko\u00e4lyyn liittyvi\u00e4 tietoja oli useimmiten opittu opettajilta, vanhemmilta tai erilaisista medioista. Oppijat, joilla oli teko\u00e4lyyn liittyvi\u00e4 k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4, my\u00f6s arvioivat oman teko\u00e4lytiet\u00e4myksens\u00e4 hyv\u00e4ksi. Oppijan sukupuolen ja luokka-asteen vaikutus teko\u00e4lyk\u00e4sityksiin oli v\u00e4h\u00e4inen. \n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen havainnot tukevat aikaisempien tutkimusten tuloksia siin\u00e4, ett\u00e4 perusopetusik\u00e4isten teko\u00e4lyk\u00e4sitykset vaihtelevat suuresti ja nuorilla on sek\u00e4 oikeansuuntaisia k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4, mutta my\u00f6s virhek\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 teko\u00e4lyst\u00e4. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tuloksia voivat hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 huoltajat, opettajat sek\u00e4 muut kasvatusty\u00f6t\u00e4 tekev\u00e4t, jotka haluavat omalla toiminnallaan opettaa lapsia ja nuoria ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n teko\u00e4ly\u00e4 teknisen\u00e4 ja yhteiskunnallisena ilmi\u00f6n\u00e4. Kouluissa olisi t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 huomiota l\u00e4hdekriittisten taitojen kehitt\u00e4miseen sek\u00e4 medialukutaidon ja teko\u00e4lylukutaidon oppimiseen.
