AI has many benefits and opportunities, but it also poses challenges,\nespecially in terms of reliability and ethics of AI. Due to its novelty, the effects of AI on the learning and skills of higher education students are only just beginning\nto develop, which makes research on the phenomenon timely and necessary. This study examined the use, trustworthiness, and ethics of generative AI from the\nperspective of Finnish higher education students. The purpose of the study was to investigate higher education students\u2019 experiences with the use of generative\nAI in their studies and which factors and principles influence their perception of the reliability and ethics of AI. The data was collected using an anonymous online\nsurvey, and the study combined quantitative and qualitative research methods. The results confirmed findings derived from previous studies. Students used AI\nin different study situations and task phases, such as generating ideas, gathering information, writing, completing tasks, and reviewing. AI was perceived as particularly useful in improving the efficiency and speed of studying, as well as in developing AI skills and critical thinking. The disadvantages of the use of AI\nwere laziness in studying, weakening of independent skills, and the superficiality of learning. The most significant factors of the trustworthiness and ethics of\nAI were transparency, accuracy, privacy, accountability, and consistency. The study revealed a significant lack of AI training in higher education. The results\nemphasized the need for critical thinking when using AI, which highlights the importance of AI training. Tutkimuksella pyrittiin selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n, millaisia kokemuksia korkeakouluopiskelijoilla on generatiivisen teko\u00e4lyn k\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4 opinnoissaan sek\u00e4 mitk\u00e4 tekij\u00e4t ja periaatteet vaikuttavat heid\u00e4n k\u00e4sitykseens\u00e4 teko\u00e4lyn luotettavuudesta ja eettisyydest\u00e4. Aineistonkeruu suoritettiin anonyymill\u00e4 verkkokyselylomakkeella, ja tutkimuksessa yhdistettiin m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisi\u00e4 ja laadullisia tutkimusmenetelmi\u00e4. Tutkimustulokset vahvistivat aiemmista tutkimuksista johdettuja havaintoja. Opiskelijat k\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t teko\u00e4ly\u00e4 monipuolisesti erilaisissa opiskelutilanteissa ja teht\u00e4vien eri vaiheissa, kuten ideoinnissa, tiedonhankinnassa, kirjoittamisessa, teht\u00e4vien tekemisess\u00e4 sek\u00e4 tarkistamisessa. Lis\u00e4ksi opiskelijat hy\u00f6dynsiv\u00e4t teko\u00e4ly\u00e4 tutkimusartikkelien suomentamisessa. Teko\u00e4lyst\u00e4 koettiin olevan hy\u00f6ty\u00e4 erityisesti sen tehostaessa ja nopeuttaessa opiskelua sek\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4ess\u00e4 teko\u00e4lytaitoja ja kriittist\u00e4 ajattelua. Teko\u00e4lyn haittapuolina n\u00e4htiin opiskelussa laiskistuminen, itsen\u00e4isten taitojen heikentyminen sek\u00e4 oppimisen muuttuminen pinnallisemmaksi. Teko\u00e4lyn luotettavuuden ja eettisyyden kokemusten kannalta merkityksellisimpin\u00e4 piirtein\u00e4 n\u00e4htiin l\u00e4pin\u00e4kyvyys, paikkansapit\u00e4vyys, yksityisyys, vastuullisuus ja johdonmukaisuus. Tutkimus toi esiin huomattavan teko\u00e4lykoulutuksen puutteen korkeakouluopinnoissa. Tulokset painottivat kriittisen ajattelun ja teko\u00e4lylukutaidon tarvetta teko\u00e4ly\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ess\u00e4, mik\u00e4 korostaa teko\u00e4lykoulutuksen t\u00e4rkeytt\u00e4 teko\u00e4lyn luotettavuuden ja eettisyyden arviointiin liittyv\u00e4n osaamisen kannalta.
