Osaamisvaatimukset on m\u00e4\u00e4ritelty eri ty\u00f6ryhmiss\u00e4 Suomessa sek\u00e4 kansainv\u00e4lisesti. Yhteiskunnalliset ja kansainv\u00e4liset\nmuutokset asettavat jatkuvasti uudenlaisia vaatimuksia fysioterapeutin osaamiselle. Fysioterapeuttikoulutuksen tulee kyet\u00e4 vastaamaan osaamisvaatimuksiin. T\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradu \u2013tutkielman\ntarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 valmistumisvaiheessa olevien fysioterapeuttiopiskelijoiden k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 fysioterapeutin ammatillisista osaamisvaatimuksista. Tavoitteena oli my\u00f6s selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 kriittisi\u00e4 tekij\u00f6it\u00e4, jotka erottivat laadullisesti erilaisia k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 toisistaan tutkittavasta ilmi\u00f6st\u00e4.\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 pro gradu -tutkielma toteutettiin laadullisena haastattelututkimuksena fenomenografisella\nmenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4. Tutkimukseen osallistui kahdeksan valmistumisvaiheessa olevaa fysioterapeuttiopiskelijaa viidest\u00e4 eri ammattikorkeakoulusta. Haastattelut toteutettiin et\u00e4yhteyksill\u00e4 kes\u00e4-lokakuussa vuonna 2024. Haastattelut toteutettiin avoimina yksil\u00f6haastatteluina ja ne litteroitiin\nheti haastattelujen j\u00e4lkeen. Aineiston analyysi tapahtui fenomenografisella aineiston analyysimenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4. Tutkimustulokset edustavat kollektiivisesti jaettua k\u00e4sityst\u00e4 tutkittavasta ilmi\u00f6st\u00e4. Aineiston analyysin j\u00e4lkeen toteutettiin kartoittava kirjallisuuskatsaus aiheesta.\nValmistumisvaiheessa olevat fysioterapeuttiopiskelijat k\u00e4sittiv\u00e4t fysioterapeutin ammatilliset\nosaamisvaatimukset kolmella laadullisesti erilaisella tavalla. Muodostuneet kuvauskategoriat\nolivat: (I) tarvittavan tietotaidon tunnistaminen, (II) tietotaidon soveltaminen k\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6\u00f6n ja (III)\nasiakas fysioterapian keski\u00f6ss\u00e4. Kuvauskategoriat tunnistettiin viisi l\u00e4pileikkaavaa teemaa: 1)\nkliininen arviointi ja tutkiminen, 2) fysioterapian terapiamenetelm\u00e4t, 3) teoriatiedon hallinta ja\ntiedonhakutaidot, 4) asiakaskohtaaminen ja ohjaaminen sek\u00e4 5) fysioterapeutin rooli. Kuvauskategorioiden v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 kriittisi\u00e4 tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 tunnistettiin tarkastelemalla eri tapoja tunnistaa teemoja\neri kategorioissa. Kriittiset aspektit olivat: \u201dsoveltamisen taito k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4, \u201dtilannekohtaisuuden huomiointi\u201d, \u201dkokonaisuuden hahmottaminen fysioterapiassa\u201d, \u201dasiakas toiminnan ytimess\u00e4\u201d ja \u201dfysioterapeutin rooli asiakkaan rinnalla\u201d.\nTutkimustulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 valmistumisvaiheen fysioterapeuttiopiskelijat k\u00e4sittiv\u00e4t fysioterapeutin ammatillisia osaamisvaatimuksia kolmella laadullisesti erilaisella tavalla. Eri tavat k\u00e4sitt\u00e4\u00e4 aihetta n\u00e4kyiv\u00e4t viidess\u00e4 teemassa. K\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 toisistaan erottivat kriittiset tekij\u00e4t.\nTutkimustulokset laajenivat opiskelijoiden suppeimmasta tavasta ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4\u00e4 tutkittavaa ilmi\u00f6t\u00e4\naina laajimpaan ymm\u00e4rrykseen. Tuloksia voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 fysioterapeuttikoulutuksen kehitt\u00e4misty\u00f6ss\u00e4. The requirements\nfor a physiotherapist\u2019s professional competence have been defined by different working groups\nboth in Finland and internationally. Societal and international changes continuously create new\ndemands for a physiotherapist\u2019s professional competence. Physiotherapy education must be\nable to respond to these evolving professional requirements. The purpose of this master\u2019s thesis was to explore the different\nways of understanding the professional competence of a physiotherapist among graduating physiotherapy students. Additionally, the study aimed to identify\ncritical factors that qualitatively differentiate various concepts of the examined phenomenon.\nThis study was conducted as a qualitative interview study using a phenomenographic method.\nEight graduating physiotherapy students from five different universities of applied sciences\nparticipated in the study. The interviews were conducted remotely between June and October\n2024. They were carried out as open individual interviews and transcribed immediately afterward. The analysis was performed using a phenomenographic data analysis method. The results\nof this study represent a collectively shared understanding of the examined phenomenon. After\ndata analysis, a scoping literature review on the research topic was conducted.\nGraduating physiotherapy students perceived the demands for a physiotherapist\u2019s professional\ncompetence in three qualitatively different ways. The resulting descriptive categories were: (I)\nIdentifying the necessary knowledge and skills, (II) Applying knowledge and skills in practice,\nand (III) The patient at the center of physiotherapy. Five overarching themes were identified\nwithin these categories: 1) Clinical assessment and examination, 2) Physiotherapy treatment\nmethods, 3) Theoretical knowledge and information retrieval skills, 4) Interaction with patients\nand guidance, and 5) The role of the physiotherapist. The critical factors distinguishing the\ndescriptive categories were identified by examining the different ways of recognizing these\nthemes across categories. These critical aspects included: \u201cthe ability to apply skills in practice,\u201d \u201cconsideration of situational factors,\u201d \u201cunderstanding the broader context of physiotherapy,\u201d \u201cthe patient at the center of physiotherapy,\u201d and \u201cthe role of the physiotherapist alongside\nthe patient.\u201d\nResults of the study indicate that graduating physiotherapy students perceive the demands for\na physiotherapist\u2019s professional competence in three qualitatively different ways, which are\nreflected in five overarching themes. These perceptions are differentiated by critical factors.\nThe perceptions ranged from the most limited to the most comprehensive understanding of the\nexamined phenomenon.
