Tutkimukseni tarkoituksena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, millaisia diskursseja opettajien puheesta maahanmuuttajataustaisista oppilaista voidaan tunnistaa, sek\u00e4 millaisia merkityksenantoja opettajat tuottavat puheellaan omasta positiostaan suhteessa maahanmuuttajataustaisiin oppilaisiin. \nToteutin tutkimukseni laadullisena tutkimuksena, jonka l\u00e4hestymistapa pohjautuu diskursiiviseen tutkimukseen. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu osasta kansainv\u00e4lisen Teaching that Matters for Migrant Students (TEAMS) -tutkimushankkeen haastatteluaineistoa, joka ker\u00e4ttiin hankkeen tutkijoiden toimesta vuosina 2021\u20132022. Haastatteluaineistosta valikoitui tutkimukseeni kuuden perusopetuksessa olevan opettajan teemahaastattelut. Analysoin aineiston diskurssianalyysin keinoin. \nTutkimustuloksissa opettajien puheesta muodostui nelj\u00e4 diskurssia, jotka ovat ty\u00f6n kuormittavuus -diskurssi, toiseusdiskurssi, huolidiskurssi ja eriarvoisuusdiskurssi. Diskurssien perusteella l\u00e4hes kaikki opettajat kuvasivat maahanmuuttajataustaiset oppilaat omaa ty\u00f6t\u00e4 kuormittaviksi, ja ongelmia aiheuttaviksi vieraan kulttuurin edustajiksi. Osalla opettajista oli kuitenkin syv\u00e4llisempi ymm\u00e4rrys monikulttuurisuudesta sek\u00e4 maahanmuuttajataustaisten oppilaiden kouluhaasteista ja niiden syist\u00e4. Maahanmuuttajataustaisten oppilaiden vanhemmat kuvattiin heikosti suomen kielt\u00e4 osaaviksi sek\u00e4 haasteellisiksi yhteisty\u00f6n osapuoliksi. Poikkeuksena olivat oman \u00e4idinkielen opettajat, joilla ei ollut vaikeuksia yhteisty\u00f6ss\u00e4 vanhempien kanssa. Opettajien puheessaan tuottamat subjektipositiot rakentuivat selke\u00e4sti, ja he tuottivat puheessaan nelj\u00e4 subjektipositiota, jotka olivat aktiivinen toimija, empaattisen ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4j\u00e4, kaverillisen varavanhempi ja ep\u00e4itsek\u00e4s uhrautuja. \nTutkimukseni tuloksista ilmeni, ett\u00e4 opettajien puheesta tunnistetut diskurssit heijastelevat kouluyhteis\u00f6iss\u00e4 aiemmissa tutkimuksissakin ilmenneit\u00e4 puhetapoja maahanmuuttajataustaisista oppilaista. Tulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 aidon monikulttuurisuuden toteutumiseen kouluissa edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 muutosta kouluyhteis\u00f6n asenteissa sek\u00e4 toimintatavoissa.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of this master\u2019s thesis is to find out the type of discourses that can be identified from teachers' speech about students with an immigrant background, as well as what types of meanings teachers produce with their speech about their own position in relation to students with a migrant background. The research data consists of part of the interview data of the international Teaching that Matters for Migrant Students (TEAMS) research project, which was collected by the researchers of the project in 2021-2022. The data was analysed using discourse analysis. Four key discourses emerged in the data: the discourse of workload, the discourse of otherness, the discourse of concern, and the discourse of inequality. On the basis of discourses, almost all teachers described students with an immigrant background as burdening their own work and causing problems as representatives of a foreign culture. However, some teachers had a deeper understanding of multiculturalism and the challenges immigrant students face in school.
