W\u2213 + D(\u2217)\u00b1-tuottoa, jossa lumo-mesonin D(\u2217)\u00b1 alkuper\u00e4 on lumo-kvarkki, tutkitaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 MCFM:st\u00e4 saatuja johtavan ja toisen kertaluvun differentiaalisia vaikutusaloja, jotka konvoluoidaan fragmentaatiofunktioiden kanssa. Tuloksia verrataan kokeellisiin mittaustuloksiin ATLAS-ilmaisimelta LHC:ss\u00e4 CERNiss\u00e4. This process could help improve our understanding of the strange quark distribution inside protons. The production of W\u2213 + D(\u2217)\u00b1, where the charmed meson D(\u2217)\u00b1 originates from the charm quark, is studied using leading- and next-to-leading-order differential cross sections from MCFM for the production of W + c, convoluted with fragmentation functions. The results are compared with experimental data from the ATLAS detector at the LHC at CERN. The calculation of the matrix element is performed at leading order in perturbation theory, taking into account the finite charm mass and considering a leptonic decay for the W boson. Differential cross sections derived numerically from the leading order calculation are found to agree with the program MCFM. The next-to-leading order results for the integrated cross section in W\u2213 + D(\u2217)\u00b1 production are found to be higher than the measured values, by \u223c 6% for D\u00b1 and \u223c 15% for D\u2217\u00b1. In the case of D\u00b1, the estimated uncertainty from scale variation and statistical error overlaps with the measurement. However, theoretical predictions found from literature agree more closely with the data. The observed tension between these predictions and our results is discussed, with possible explanations including differences in fragmentation modeling and parameter choices.
