Lis\u00e4ksi kielitaidon merkitys kasvaa globalisoituvassa maailmassa ja kielenopetuksen rooli korostuu. Opettajan ty\u00f6teht\u00e4v\u00e4t eiv\u00e4t en\u00e4\u00e4 rajoitu luokkahuoneen sis\u00e4lle ja uudenlaista ammattitaitoa vaaditaan koko ajan (Aho 2011). N\u00e4in ollen aineenhallinta ei en\u00e4\u00e4 riit\u00e4 t\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n \u201dhyv\u00e4n opettajan\u201d m\u00e4\u00e4ritelm\u00e4\u00e4 (Tileston 2003). Ammattitaitoa vaaditaan esimerkiksi luokkahuoneen, koulun, yhteiskunnan ja ammatillisen kehittymisen tasoilla (Bendtsen 2016). T\u00e4ten opettajan koulutuksen merkitys ja sen kyky kouluttaa osaavia koulutusalan ammattilaisia korostuu. \n \nAiempi tutkimus kuitenkin osoittaa, ett\u00e4 opettajan koulutuksessa on puutteita (Ruohotie-Lyhty 2012; Martin & Pennanen 2015). Lis\u00e4ksi sen uudistaminen on hidasta, eik\u00e4 n\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 sen kehitt\u00e4miseksi ole riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti (Kansanen 2011). T\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkimus pyrkii selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n, millaiset valmiudet koulutus tarjoaa kielten opettajan ty\u00f6h\u00f6n ja mik\u00e4 on ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4n rooli opettajan ammatillisessa kehittymisess\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimus tarkastelee mahdollisia eroja eri koulutustaustan ja ty\u00f6kokemuksen omaavien opettajien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ja esitt\u00e4\u00e4 ideoita koulutuksen kehitt\u00e4miseksi. Tutkimus toteutettiin kyselylomakkeen avulla, johon vastasi 57 kielten aineenopettajaa ja kielten opetuksesta vastuussa olevaa luokanopettajaa. Laadulliset tulokset analysoitiin temaattisesti ja m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4lliset tulokset SPSS:n avulla. \n \nTulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 koulutus antaa hyv\u00e4t valmiudet etenkin teoreettisesti, mutta puutteita esiintyy k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n saralla. Vaikka harjoittelua ja pedagogisia opintoja pidet\u00e4\u00e4n hy\u00f6dyllisin\u00e4, niiden m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 n\u00e4hd\u00e4\u00e4n riitt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4n\u00e4. N\u00e4in \nollen suuri osa taidoista opitaan vasta ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4. Esimerkiksi erityispedagogiikkaa, luokanvalvojan teht\u00e4vi\u00e4 tai yhteisty\u00f6t\u00e4 eri tahojen v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei tyypillisesti k\u00e4sitell\u00e4 opinnoissa. N\u00e4in ollen k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6n sis\u00e4lt\u00f6jen ja harjoittelun lis\u00e4\u00e4mist\u00e4 ehdotettiin koulutuksen kehitt\u00e4miseksi. Lis\u00e4ksi aineenopettajat korostivat didaktiikan n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmaa omissa opinnoissaan, kun taas luokanopettajat kieliopintojen sis\u00e4llytt\u00e4mist\u00e4 omaan koulutukseensa. \n \nTutkimuksen tuloksia voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 etenkin opettajan koulutuksen kehitt\u00e4miseen, jotta se antaisi paremmat valmiudet ammatin vaatimuksiin k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4.
